seule-jamais asked: Hi, my friends are talking behind my back about how "too skinny I've gotten.. I'm 5'4 & a half and 105 lbs (115 before) work I think that constitutes as normal, yeah? Anyyyway, I exercise every day after school but eat probably 1200 calories a day, I don't think that means I have an eating disorder. Sure, I obsess to make sure I have only 1200 calories but as long as I'm eating right? People assume that I'm bulimic or anorexic when I really don't think that's the case.. what do you make of this?
105 is pushing it on the skinny side, and 1200 calories is low if you’re exercising. I think they’re just considered. But you can have an eating disorder even if you’re eating 1200 calories. If you’re exercising, you’re getting less than you need. And if you’re obsessing, then that is dangerous. Just try to focus on what you’re eating and how you’re feeling, not just the numbers. But I think you’re okay :) If you lose any more weight, the calorie counting/exercising starts messing with things that you need to get done (school work, being with friends, etc), or you just get worried, I suggest talking to a friend or trusted adult, but for now you sound like most of teenage girls in our society. Just stay healthy, and remember you’re beautiful :)
